Stanley Who? One Green Bottle Drowns Out the Tiktok Sensation in Sustainable Bottle Race War

Everyone knows we love cult-culture in this space, we actually take pride in considering ourselves a bit of a cult. I love deep diving into the subcultures and niche systems in which these phenomena emerge and understand their motivations, values and drives. I take my job very seriously, guys! Even if that means deep diving into the motivations, values and drives behind church-like-followers of Stanley Quencher’s water bottles.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, go google it because I can’t be bothered to explain this to you… Just kidding, babes! Basically a couple of months ago these MASSIVE stainless steel, insulated thermos were all over everyone’s Tiktoks and soon enough all over their homes as well. It’s funny to think how these tumblers used to be associated with gym-bros just a couple of years ago, whereas now they have a huge range of pastel shades for all the girlies trying to stay hydrated.

Now don’t get me wrong, I can (sort of) see the appeal of having an adult sippy-cup big enough that you don’t have to get up to refill it more than once a day, but they’re literally so heavy and they will only fit in a “ludicrously capacious bag”, to quote our king Tom Wambsgans. There’s nothing practical about that, especially in London where you’re constantly commuting around, carrying multiple bags with you and having to deal with banker-wankers that literally bump into you as if you weren’t even there.

Succession meme about gargantuan bag.

Nevertheless, I’m all in on the leap and rise of reusable water bottles, especially if they are sustainable, I think it’s fantastic both for our health and for mama earth’s as well. But as the reusable water bottle expert that I am, an award that I granted myself after losing so many of them that I’ve gone through most of them in the world of reusable water bottles, the Stanley Quencher’s thermos didn’t make the cut. Instead I present to you (drumrolls…) One Green Bottle! This is a cult-worthy sustainable water bottle.

If we were all as committed to the environment as One Green Bottle was… Well I don’t exactly know where we would be, but the earth would definitely not be as pissed off at us as she is at the moment. They’re just fucking great! For multiple reasons.

1. They have a huge repertoire of reusable water bottles

Ranging from very beige-girl pastel colours (absolutely no judgement here) to quirky and funky prints and themes. Different sizes and models, for every water aficionado out there. They also cater to kids.

2. They’re real when it comes to their social and environmental responsibility

From being environmentally responsibly sourced and socially ethically made to their low emission shipping and huge environmental promotion.

3. They turn the boring into sexy

One Green Bottle really knows how to make their sustainability into something that we should all care about. No bullshit, but also no boring stuff: why we should take better care of our oceans, the importance of coral reefs, and being kind to nature.

4. They have a bunch of accessories

This brand really understands the power of identity and how we all like to make things our own so they’ve given us a lot from where to choose. If you had never thought of such a thing, let me introduce you to reusable straws, bottle holders, bottle bags; all in different colours and multiple designs to turn your water bottle into an outfit staple.

5. They’re just Really Good reusable water bottles

Being completely pragmatic, they’re just a really cool brand; they’re local, with really good quality products, which are not only not having a negative impact on the world, but they’re literally having a positive impact instead. They’re fun and cute, they’re sturdy, they’ll keep your iced water cool and your black americano warm.

For years I tried (unsuccessfully) to become one of those people who ALWAYS carries their water bottle wherever they go (link to article), but I kept either losing them, hating them or just not finding them motivating enough for me to drink out of them (yes, I need motivation even to drink water). But along came One Green Bottle and swept me off my feet and turned me into that person. Now drinking water doesn’t seem like such a core and I still have my water bottle sitting right next to me as we speak, 8 months later (huge record for me).
